This episode of Chesapeake Farm & Bay to Table is all about how food has the universal power to connect us to our fondest memories and traditions. For most Marylanders that includes a trip to the Maryland State Fair. Join Partners Harford County Public Library's CEO Mary Hastler, Chef John Shields and local author of "Dining Down Memory Lane" Volumes I and II, Shelley Howell as they visit the Fairgrounds for a behind-the-scenes tour. Then step back in time (in Chef John's kitchen!) as they demonstrate recipes that take us back to some of our favorite childhood memories! 


Our Common Table is a nonprofit organization that wants to spread our message of respect and conservation for the Chesapeake and its bounty. We believe that a single action, like preparing a simple meal for our friends and family, can make a difference in the community and that collective action can greatly impact our region and the world. Through education and outreach activities, our team works tirelessly each day to contribute their part to the greater good.


Chef John Shields––otherwise known as the Culinary Ambassador of the Chesapeake Bay––has been cooking nearly his whole life. He began his career cooking with his grandmother Gertie Cleary at an early age and never looked back. Little did he know that he would become an accomplished celebrity chef owning many restaurants, writing four popular cookbooks, starring in two national public television series, and so much more.
