Upcoming Event: Parties in the Springtime: Chesapeake Farm & Bay to Table
Our next episode is all about parties in the spring! We’re going to crash a proper spring party and learn the ins and out of throwing a bash. From planning to decorating, and easy-to-serve menu ideas, it will be a one-stop class for all your party needs. And, a special reunion as well. John Shields’ very own Kitchen Goddess from public television’s Coastal Cooking with John Shields, Andrea Farnum, will be flying in from the west coast to host our affair! On the menu will be Crispy Rockfish Tacos with Lime-Jicama Slaw and Avocado Cream, a delectable strawberry Paloma and maybe a few more surprises.
Our Common Table is a nonprofit organization that wants to spread our message of respect and conservation for the Chesapeake and its bounty. We believe that a single action, like preparing a simple meal for our friends and family, can make a difference in the community and that collective action can greatly impact our region and the world. Through education and outreach activities, our team works tirelessly each day to contribute their part to the greater good.
WHO IS JOHN SHIELDS?
Chef John Shields––otherwise known as the Culinary Ambassador of the Chesapeake Bay––has been cooking nearly his whole life. He began his career cooking with his grandmother Gertie Cleary at an early age and never looked back. Little did he know that he would become an accomplished celebrity chef owning many restaurants, writing four popular cookbooks, starring in two national public television series, and so much more.
